Requirements to Join FLEOA

 
Types of membership include Regular, Retired, Resigned, and Associate. Any person is eligible to apply for membership, who meets the criteria requirements and is of good moral character and reputation.
 
a.  Regular membership is available to a person who is currently a full-time or permanent law enforcement officer of the United States government.
 
b.  Retired membership is available to a person who has retired as a federal law enforcement officer of the United States government.
 
c.  Resigned membership is available to a person who was a law enforcement officer of United States government with at least three (3) years of honorable service.
 
d.  Associate membership is available to a person who does not fall under the three previous categories; however, has an interest in promoting the aims and objectives of FLEOA.
 
 
The term “federal law enforcement officer” as used in Article II, Section 1, means:
 
a.  A person employed as a series 1811 criminal investigator or whose title and functions is that of a criminal investigator with full law enforcement authority, with or without 6(C )or special retirement provisions; or
 
b.  A Federal Officer or Special Agent with 6(C )or special retirement provisions, who performs full-time law enforcement duties, has full-time law enforcement authority to carry a firearm, makes arrests for violations of Federal Criminal Law, and conducts criminal investigations.
